Bhaktapur, Sept 17: US Ambassador to Nepal Dean R. Thompson inaugurated a library at Nepal Vocational Academy at Nagancha in Bhaktapur district on Tuesday.

The library has some 5,000 texts collected by US Professor Theodore Riccardi, who carried out deep study about Nepal's arts, heritages and other issues by staying in Nepal for almost five decades.

Supported by the US Embassy Nepal, the library has books on Asian contexts, literature, arts, culture, architecture, heritage and other research-based works.

On the occasion, the US Ambassador said that the library has further strengthened the Nepal-US relations.

Ambassador Thompson said that ancient books have received a crucial place in the library and the library itself was very important for Nepal.

On the occasion, Professor Riccardi's wife Ellen shared about the service and studies carried out by her husband in Nepal.

Theodore Riccardi Jr., known as Ted Riccardi, served as the resident Director of the Fulbright Programme in Nepal from 1965-1968.(RSS)
