Nepali team departs for AFC U-20 and SAAF U-17

Kathmandu, Sept 17: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has bid farewell to the Nepali team set to compete in the AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers to be held in Chinese Taipei.     

Minister for Youth and Sports Tejulal Chaudhary, ANFA officials including President Pankaj Bikram Nemwang among others saw off the team today extending them with best wishes.     

In the qualifying match, Nepal is in group B alongside Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan, Bahrain and Cambodia. The match of this group will he held from September 21 to September 29.     

Nepal is scheduled to play against Cambodia on September 21 while Nepal will face Chinese Taipei on September 23, Uzbekistan on September 25 and Bahrain on September 27.     

The Nepali team features Jiyarat Sheikh, Krishal Moktan and Amit Tamata as goal keepers while defenders include Sabin Ghimire, Ashwin Ghorasaini, Bikram Tamang, Nirmal Bal, Ram Thapa, Simant Thapa, Ayush Timsina and Deepak Thapa Magar.     

The midfielders are Abhinash Syangtan, Kushal Deuba, Lakshu Thapa, Saroj Darlami and Prashant Laksham while forward players include Anil Bomjom, Dharbendar Kunwar, Dhansingh BK, Nima Wangel Tamang, Niraj Karki, Nirajan Dhami and Samir Tamang.     

Likewise, the ANFA has bid farewell to the Nepali team leaving for Bhutan to participate in the South Asian Football Association (SAFF) U-17 tournament.     

Nepal is drawn in group B with Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Pakistan while group A includes countries like India, the Maldives and Bangladesh.     

The competition will be held on September 20 to 30 in Bhutan. Nepal's first match is against Pakistan is on September 21 followed by Sri Lanka on September 23 and Bhutan on September 25.     

The Nepali team consists of Pemba Norbu Bhote, Ram Bahadur Bohora and Bhakta Bahadur Pariyar as goalkeepers.     

Similarly, the U-17 squad from Nepal features Sharan SK, Prashant Moktan, Jivan Gurung, Sujalan Ghale, Nishanraj Jalawat, Bhuwan Kami and Ekraj Bishwakarma as defenders.     

Likewise, Krishna Bahadur Ale, John Bista, Pawan Pakhrin, Sabinay Katuwal, Anubhav Puri, Laxman Thai, Bigyan Khadka, Subash Bom, Alik Shrestha and Sabin Kumar Lungeli are midfielders while Rohit Shrestha, Santosh Gongba and Sujan Dangol, Anil Bomjom, Dharbender Kunwar, Dhan Singh BK, Nima Wangel Tamang and Niraj Karki, Nirajan Dhamil and Samir Tamang are as strikers.(RSS)
