Political cleansing is required, insists Communications Minister Gurung

Kathmandu, Sept 13: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has underscored on cleansing the political conduct which remains as the main essence of the politics.     

Inaugurating the Children's Song Contest organized at Balmandir at Naxal in the context of the 60th National Children's Day today, he said purification in political conduct has become inevitable in view of the deterioration in honesty and sense of service in politics of late.     

The Children's Song Contest-2081(2024) is organized under the joint aegis of Radio Nepal and the Nepal Children's Organization.     

According to the Minister, political cleansing is necessary for stability given the feeling of pessimism seen among the people and the sense of repulsion witnessed among the youths due to the fluid politics.     

Stating that conscious people, students and intelligentsia keep an interest in politics, the Communication Minister, who is also the government spokesperson, stressed on the need of all to fulfill their responsibility from their respective places to guide politics in the right direction.     

Minister Gurung said Radio Nepal will become stronger and more systematized as well as its services would be expanded with the passage of the Public Service Broadcasting Bill that aims to integrate Radio Nepal and Nepal Television.     

Radio Nepal's Deputy Executive Director, Khagendra Khatri said Radio Nepal and Nepal Children's Organization have been organizing the children's song competition every year. Saying parents should fulfill their responsibility of providing motivation and encouragement in the life of children, he stressed on further scaling up the investment being made on children's rights.     

Deputy Executive Director Khatri expressed the belief that such competitions will help make children's future brighter.     

Nepal Children's Organization Chairperson Bidya Upadhyay Neupane said activities should be carried out which help in making the life of children meaningful, understanding their sentiments, as small things done together with children also have much importance.     

Eighteen groups of children are participating in the Song Contest.
