59 sick in Jhapa after having offerings of puja

By Leelaraj Khadka, Birtamod, Sept.12:  59 people who attended a puja and ate offerings have gone sick in Arjundhara Municipality-9 Jhapa District, due to food poisoning.

According to the Police, out of 59 who fell sick and showed symptoms of food poisoning all day on Tuesday, 52 have returned home after treatment by Thursday.

A puja was performed at the house of local Rita Niraula of Kharbandi of Arjundhara Municipality-9, on Tuesday. The offerings such as bread, pickles, and vegetables were distributed to all that were attending the occasion. 

According to the medical doctors of Sanischare PHC, Jhapa, most of the patients who ate offerings had symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. Patients range from children to elderly. 

According to the police, Most of the patients in less severe conditions were treated at the clinic in Kalisthan, while those in severe conditions are undergoing treatment at B & C Teaching hospital and  Manmohan Hospital, Jhapa.
