Lalitpur, Sept 8 : The reconstruction of the Degu Taleju temple at Patan Durbar Area, a world heritage site, has been completed.
The temple was completely damaged
due to the Gorkha Earthquake in 2015. The reconstruction works on the outside
of this historic temple has been completed while the works in the interior are
in progress in the second phase, said Leela Pathak, Chief of the Patan
Monuments Conservation and Durbar Supervision Office.
She said the largest and tallest
temple in Lalitpur would be inaugurated after conducting the atonement worship
with the completion of the works in the interior of the temple. "The
temple which dates back to the Malla- era has been reconstructed in its
original style," she added.
The Government of Japan had
provided an assistance of Rs 130 million for the reconstruction of the
temple.
The reconstruction of most of the
heritages in Lalitpur has been completed while the rebuilding works of a few of
the heritages is ongoing, according to Pathak, the Chief of the Patan Monuments
Conservation and Durbar Supervision Office. (RSS)
