Coordination, cooperation needed to combat organized crime, terrorism, Home Minister says

Kathmandu, Sept. 7: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that there should be coordination and cooperation among law enforcement agencies to combat transnational organized crime, cybercrime, terrorism and others.     

At a programme organized at the Nepal Police Headquarters to mark the centenary of the establishment of INTERPOL on Saturday, Home Minister Lekhak said that the support of the INTERPOL will be special to combat criminal activities

"The best practices, expertise and mutual exchanges of information at the international level are required to effectively control such criminal activities," Minister Lekhak viewed.     

On the occasion, Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadee appreciated the role the Nepal Police played in maintaining law and order and termed it praiseworthy.     

He said that the coordination and cooperation of the Nepal Police at the international level was remarkable and praiseworthy and added that the Home Ministry was always proactive to further strengthen the security agencies in this task in future.     

Likewise, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal stressed that the joint effort of law enforcement agencies was imperative to combat organized crime, cybercrime, and terrorism and to maintain law and order.     

Also speaking at the programme, Inspector General of Nepal Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar said international coordination was needed to bring under the laws to those involved in any of the criminal activities.(RSS)
