Kathmandu, Sept 3: President Ramchandra Paudel has underscored effective implementation of women rights guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of Nepal.

Speaking at a reception hosted by First Lady Sabita Paudel on the occasion of Teej Festival at Rastrapati Bhawan Sheetal Niwas on Tuesday, he emphasized rigorous implementation of women rights enshrined in the Constitution of Nepal despite the fact that societal attitude towards women was evolving lately. "There have been many changes in the society at present. I think that the condition of women is not the same as before. At present there are many provisions for women's right in the constitution and laws of Nepal."

On the occasion, the Head of the State highlighted the need to preserve and promote Nepal's various cultures and festivities as, he argued, cultures and festivities were the means to maintain originality of the country.

The Teej Festival, also known as the 'Haritalika' is being observed by Nepali Hindu women and the main day falls on coming September 6.

Present in celebratory programme at Sheetal Niwas were former President Bidya Devi Bhandari, women ministers, women parliamentarians and senior women officials from various agencies.(RSS)
