No pause at news agency: RSS Chair Jha

blog

Kathmandu, Sept 2: Executive Chairman of Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) Dharmendra Jha said that despite inconveniences and challenges including budget, RSS was competing with international news agencies with the diversification of its services.

Since the trial of 24 hour news dissemination, RSS got numerous positive and encouraging feedbacks that prompted RSS management to formally expand the service round the clock, Jha said during a programme organized at RSS central office to officially launch the current 17 hours news service to 24 hours.

He said, "The expansion of Nepali news service to 24 hours was designed with the concept that news agency never takes a break".

On the occasion, RSS General Manager Siddha Raj Rai seconded Jha's opinion and argued that RSS was competing with international news agencies with its service diversification. RSS was planning news services in Maithili and Nepal Bhasa languages soon, he shared.

RSS had begun its 24 hour service on trial on August 27, which got positive response. The State-run news agency has gradually made reforms- it launched hourly service, then to online, and now the formal expansion to round the clock.

Also addressing the programme, senior journalist Prateek Pradhan opined that the RSS should emerge more effectively with quality services. He also reminded that there is 'no deadline' concept in news services.(RSS)
