Kathmandu, Sep.2: The Kuse Aunsi, a Nepali Father's Day is being observed nationwide. It is also known as Gokarna Aunsi in Nepal.

This is a special day set apart for the veneration of one's father. On this auspicious day, sons as well as daughters go home to meet and spend quality time with their fathers. Home-cooked delicacies, sweets, meat, and other gifts are offered to all fathers.

Those who have lost their father perform tarpan, pindadan and Shradha, to commentate their departed father.  tarpan, pindadan and Shradha, are Hindu traditional ways to commemorate departed souls, especially by the son of family.

A special fair is held in the premises of Gokarneshwar Mahadev temple, also known as Uttar Gaya. It is located at the northeastern part of Kathmandu.  Therefore, today is marked as Gokarne Aunsi as well.
