Woman gives birth to triplets in Rukum

By Raju Lamichhane, Rukum Paschim, Aug 27: A woman at a local hospital in Sani Bheri  Rural Municipality has given birth to triplets.

Kaushila Pun, 18, of Chaurjahari Municipality gave birth to triplets, two daughters and one son today morning, according to Ambika Oli, staff nurse at the Sani Bheri Rural Municipality hospital.

Married to Chaurjahari Municipality-14, Kaushila was living at her maternal home at Sani Bheri.

Kaushila gave births at 28 weeks although 40 weeks period is considered to be normal for delivery.

Pregnant Kaushila reached hospital after she felt birth pangs and her health is normal after delivery.

Health conditions of the two daughters is normal and they weigh a kg each while the son, the third to be born, is 900 gram in weight. Due to below normal weight of the child and some difficulties observed in respiration, the child has been sent to well-equipped hospital after coordination, according to staff nurse Oli.

Oli said that it is the first time that triplets were born in the hospital there.

Birkha Bahadur Bist, chairperson of the Sani Bheri Rural Municipality, said that the mother and the newly born babies were taken to hospital in Nepalgunj in the ambulance of the Rural Municipality along with hospital in-charge Karna Bir KC.
