Voices against discrimination expressed at poetry concert

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 26: The silent stage of Rastriya Nachghar became alive with the harmonious blend of poetry and music during the 'Poetry Concert 2024' on Saturday. 

Organised by Sambhab Samuha, a poetry campaign of young and energetic poets, the event created an impressive lineup of poets who raised voices against all sorts of discrimination with rich poetic aesthetics.

The event fostered a wonderful connection between poetry and music. Moreover, it showcased the power of poetry in conveying important messages among a large number of literary figures. The poetry performances by 10 poets were accompanied by Phokto Band's music. 

Anita Neupane, Shakun Aansu and Asmita Badi were guest poets while Uttam Tumsa Limbu, Yug Sarvanam, Sanjit Falana and Suraj Rana, representing Sambhab Samuha, delivered their poetic renditions. 

Anita Neupane recited poems titled 'Aafnai Paitala Tekera' and 'Yo Desh Dekhera Malai Asadhyai Dar Lagirahechh'.

 Shakun Aansu presented 'Nawayugki Sumnima' and 'Pathsala'. 

Similarly, Asmita Badi read 'Ke Bachnu Bhaneko Saas Fernumatrai Ho' and 'Laas Bokne Khuttaharu' while Uttam Tumsa Limbu performed "Euta Prasna Sodhnu Thiyo, 'Thulile Jaad Bechna Chhadin' and "Muluk Kahile Farkinchhas Thule'. Yug Sarvanam shared 'Ragatko Paidalyatra' and "Ma Marchhu Hola'.

Likewise, Sanjit Falana recited 'Chautari', 'Ambo' and 'Uchaai' as Suraj Rana presented 'Aksharharu', 'Saas Ferne Murti' and 'Prahari Chaukima Solta'.

Meanwhile, Swapnil Smriti, Rima KC and Sita Tumkhewa performed poems by three poets related to the Samuha who were absent at the event.

 Smriti read Mithoch's poem 'Aithan', KC performed Raj Ekanta's 'Chhapamarko Sandesh' and Tumkhewa recited Balindra Yonghang's 'Mona Lisa'.

Speaking at the event, poet Shrawan Mukarung traced that the poetic performances accompanied by music challenge traditional poetry recitations. "It gave me an opportunity to understand what the new generation is writing and how they perceive the poetry." 

Academician of Nepal Academy Rajan Mukarung presented tokens of appreciation to the guest poets at the event hosted by Bachchu Himansu. 

Among the audience were famous literary figures including Biplav Dhakal, Yaseli Yonghang, Bimala Tumkhewa, Kumari Lama, Pragati Rai, Heman Yatri, Sanjeev Rai, Umesh Akinchan, Ganesh Khaniya, Sojho Gaule, Prakash Ramghali, Chandrabir Tumbapo, Laxmi Rumba, Karan Rai, Devesh Rai, Manoj Thapamagar, Anil Subba, JD Tamu, Apsara Lawati, Naresh Lawati, Bishal Senehang, Prajwal Adhikari, Asim Sagar and others.
