Efforts on to pay dairy farmers: Minister Adhikari

blog

Kathmandu, Aug 18: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, Ramnath Adhikari, vowed payment to the dairy farmers, as he was aware of the problems facing them.

The Ministry was holding talks to Finance Ministry on it, he said, accusing the dairy owners and industrialists of not paying milk producers but siphoning off money.

Minister Adhikari viewed it during a discussion held with dairy entrepreneurs and stakeholders on Sunday. The government is at work to pay the farmers via Dairy Development Corporation (DDC).

On the occasion, Ministry Secretary Dr Rajendra Prasad Mishra directed the DDC to conduct a study on how this problem could be resolved.

In response, Executive Director at DDC, Dr Rajendra Prasad Yadav, said the price adjustment of milk was scientific, so all sides warrant adequate attention to pay the farmers who produce milk and supply to the dairy. (RSS)
