Minister Bhandari urges British govt for assistance in Nepal's development

Kathmandu, Aug 16: British Ambassador to Nepal, Rob Fenn, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, at the latter's office, Sing Durbar on Friday.     

Various issues like Nepal-UK relations, Nepal's economic development, good governance initiatives and humanitarian aid were discussed during the meeting.     

Minister Bhandari urged Ambassador Fenn to support Nepal in its effort to upgrade the country from the least developed status to a developing one by 2026. Nepal also needs the support for industrial development, and enhancement of competitiveness, he reminded.     

Minister Bhandari further shared with the Ambassador that Nepal government had prioritized the development and exports of productive sectors such as industry, tourism, and information technology.     

Promotion of exportable items such as herbs, pashmina, tea, ready-made clothes, and carpets was also essential.     

On the occasion, Ambassador Fenn congratulated Minister Bhandari on his re-appointment to the post and wished him a successful tenure.(RSS)
