Contractor feted for school construction on time

By Our Correspondent,Urlabari, Aug. 10: Kanepokhari Rural Municipality in Morang district has honoured a construction company for completing the construction of a school building and handing it over to the rural municipality six months before the expiry of the contract deadline.

During the inauguration of the new building of Shikshya BikasSecondary School of Daleli in Ward No.2  of Kanepokhari Rural Municipality,  lawmaker and chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives Rishikesh Pokharel honoured operator of Khan Builders and Suppliers of Inaruwa, Sunsari, Afroj Khan on Wednesday. 

Khan’s company Khan Builders and Suppliers inked the contract agreement to construct the school building in December 2022 to complete the construction by the end of December 2024. However, the company completed the construction of the building and handed over it on June 29, 2024. 

 Speaking at the building inauguration programme, lawmaker Pokharel said that the state was preparing infrastructure to make education up to the secondary level free and quality. 

Education, which is a gateway of knowledge and awareness, is the most essential aspect of human development, he said, adding that Nepal’s education sector was lagging in lack of earning and studying opportunities.

“Only constructing a proper school building is not enough to improve the quality of education,” he said. He also urged the teachers and others to work to improve the quality of school education.  Rural Municipality’s Chairperson Rajmati Ingnam said that the guardians should visit and monitor the schools where their wards were studying. 

She said that the school was selected to equip it with infrastructure as students of poor, indigenous, Janajati and Dalit communities were studying there. The new school building was constructed for Rs.  27,958,105 provided by the Federal Government as a special grant. 

Similarly, Kamal Prasad Jamarkattel, former teachers Gyanendra Khadka and Kuber Dhakal who have donated land to the school, former chairperson of School Management Committee Shamsher Bahadur Niraula, senior teacher Shantalal Chaudhary, the best teacher of the ward, Shyam Kumar Chaudhary, and former teacher Meghraj Mukhiya were also honoured on the occasion.
