Govt. committed to banish bad culture, superstition from country: Minister Gurung

Kathmandu, July 30: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said the government was active in building a prosperous Nepal by completely ending bad culture, superstition in practice in society. 

Releasing today a poster of a movie 'Agnidahan' based on a story of a woman who is abused and victimized on the charge of witchery, Minister Gurung shared the government's plan of taking the country towards modern society by ending all types of discrimination and bad culture.  

He pointed out the need of cultural revolution along with effective implementation of laws and acts to end superstition and harmful cultural practices. 

Also the Spokesperson of the government, Communications Minister Gurung underlined that the government was fully committed to end witchcraft, mentioning that different types of criminal activities including murdering and thrashing women in the name of witchcraft are still taking place at many places of the country.  

He laid emphasis on the need of ending Haliya, chhaupadi, Haruwa-charuwa and Kamalahari practices still existing at different districts of the country. (RSS)
