Kathmandu, July 21: Chairman of the CPN (Unified Socialist), Madhav Kumar Nepal, said time has come for a common resolution among political parties to strengthen democracy.

Taking part in a discussion on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's proposal for confidence motion during the HoR meeting today, Chairman Nepal called on all parties and lawmakers for making resolution to reinforce democratic system. "There is no alternative to democracy, but a better democracy," he underlined.

The former prime minister viewed all citizens must be beneficiaries of democratic republic, so that they would realize change. Once the system and institutions are strengthened, it would help make country stronger.

He argued broader discussion among all sides– political forces, intellectuals, civil society and stakeholders- is imperative on the issues that need amendment in constitution.

Chairman Nepal further said it is high time government became serious on good governance and economic prosperity.

The government was also urged to intensify the search and rescue of those missing in the Trishuli River after the tragic bus accident. Even the road infrastructure and repair need timely and adequate repair in order to reduce accidents, he added.

Other issues leader Nepal reminded were development of technology, employment creation, investment in productive sectors and environment conservation.

He informed that his party would stay in opposition and play a constructive role. (RSS)
