Cooperative probe committee hold discussion with ex-secretaries

Kathmandu, July 16: The Parliamentary Investigation Special Committee formed to probe the alleged misuse of savings in cooperative organizations today held discussion with ex-secretaries and former auditor generals.     

The committee held discussions with former Auditor General Tanka Mani Sharma, ex-secretaries at the Ministry of Cooperatives Gopinath Mainali and Dr Damodar Regmi, according to committee president Surya Thapa.     

Discussions were held on legal and operational practices and experiences of various structures including the formulation of the Cooperative Act, regulatory arrangement, cooperative crisis, he said.     

The committee has decided to follow up with the contact persons of the agencies from where documents and evidences were sought, hold representational discussions with the cooperatives operating well across the country, make technical preparations and management of inquiries with various people, and hold discussions based on the experience of the auditors of the cooperatives, Thapa informed.
