Paragliding test conducted at Guthichaur of Jumla

By Our Correspondent,Jumla, July 14: A test flight of paragliding has been conducted in Guthichaur in Jumla. Guthichaur Rural Municipality has conducted the test flight in the area with the aim of increasing income through adventure tourism. 

Nine people including chairman of the Rural Municipality Dan Bahadur Budha, Chief Administrative Officer Dhruwa Raj Giri, Chief District Officer of Jumla, Jayakumar Ghimire, and Vice-president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Jumla, Dilmaya Shahi participated in the test flight.

Guthichaur is a picturesque tourist area located at an hour's drive by car from Jumla district headquarters. The rural municipality first tested it in collaboration with Babu Adventure Company, which has experience in that area. 

According to the paragliders, Guthichaur is one of the most promising areas in Nepal in terms of paragliding operation. The organisers aim to develop it as a base for paragliding in the region. 

Chairman Budha thanked the drivers and concerned agencies for the successful completion of the test flight. He said that if the campaign became successful in the rural municipality, it could become the second tourist centre after Rara.

Chief District Officer Ghimire said there was high potential for adventure tourism in Guthichaur. 

Guthichaur is a bowl-shaped place with a massive area of open land. Guthichaur has a sheep farm which is also the research centre for agriculture.
