Godavari (Kailali), June 30: The blood stock is decreasing in the regional blood transfusion service centre run by the Nepal Red Cross Society in Dhangadhi.
According to Dharanidhar Pant, the head of the
centre, if a patient suddenly asks for blood, it is not possible to get it
immediately. Patients from the hilly districts of the Far West come to
Dhangadhi for treatment of various diseases and they may need immediate
blood.
Relatives of patients admitted to
the hospital for treatment have to suffer in search of blood. Lately, the blood
donation programme in the district is in decline.
Relatives of patients are failing
to find fresh donors from their own sides", he said, "Even though we
are trying to find blood donors, it is slow to get blood easily."
Meanwhile, some patients' surgery
has been delayed due to not getting blood on time.
Around 50 to 60 units of blood have
been supplied daily from the centre. (RSS)
