By TRN Online, Kathmandu, June 10: A book on China’s modernisation and development as perceived by a team of journalists and artists from Nepal in a recent visit has been made public.
The book entitled ‘Through Nepali Eyes: The Practice of Chinese Path to Modernisation’ was made public amidst a function organised by Friends on the Cloud: Platform of Influencers, Nepal here today.
The book includes the experiences of the Nepali journalists and artists about China’s development and its success in poverty alleviation.
Presenting his review on the book, Founder of Nepal-China Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of International Chamber of Commerce Rajesh Kaji Shrestha remarked that the book present multiple lessons Nepal can take with regard to China’s development process and practices.
Former Ambassador and foreign affairs expert Hiranya Lal Shrestha viwed that China’s modernisation has been adapted to its original characteristics and that it has not been westernisation.
Leader of the 18-member delegation who visited China recently, general manager of Nepal Television, Phulman Bal Tamang, said that a great lesson could be taken from the way China has been taking strides in develoment while preserving its original cultural tradition. “We found cultural self-confidence in the Chinese people, which inspired us all the most.”
Sharing his experiences of China visit, journalist Jivaram Bhandari lauded the way Communist Party of China was successful in making the people happy and prosperous. “China has adopted the system that fits its well and achieved the unprecedented development.”
Thakur Belbase, a journalist, shared that he was awed by seeing the level of develoment China has achieved and suggested that Nepal should learn from the success of the northern neighbour.
Rajesh Chamling Rai, assistant editor of the Gorkhapatra daily, said that the visit has removed many rumours about China and exposed the team to see development directly. “We all know, Nepal China relations date back to ancient times. The relations have been friendly over the periods. The visit has cleared all the false impressions made through heresay and twisted media reports because we all could experience China’s development by ourselves. The visit has helped us to understand true China.”
Sovit Upreti, Chairperson of Friends on the Cloud: Platform of Influencers, Nepal, who also facilitated the visit to China, expressed happiness over the way experiences of the visiting delegates have been documented in the form of the book, which would contribute to strengthen people-to-people relations and make many more Nepali people know about true reality of China.
The book includes the travel memoirs of journalists Phulman Ban Tamang, Tara Bahadur Basyal, Rajesh Chamling Rai, Jivram Bhandari, Thakur Belbase, Anzana Silpakar, and senior artist Madan Dash Shrestha.
