Shramadhaan Mela important to create jobs within country: Minister Bhandari

Kailali, June 9: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari said that the Shramadhaan Mela (employment fair) would play an important role in creating jobs within the country.     

He said so in the inauguration session of the Mela (Fair) organized by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, the Ministry of Social Development of the Sudurpaschim Province and the Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City at Dhangadhi today.     

Minister Bhandari said that his Ministry would be more concerned about creating as many as employment opportunities besides promoting self-employment.     

The Minister saw the need for revising investment related law to improve overall environment of the industrial area which, according to him, remains one of the sectors with the highest potentials for job creations.     

He appreciated the initiatives of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security for promoting partnership and collaboration between the private and public sector.     

Similarly, Minister for Land Management and Agriculture and Cooperatives Tika Thapa viewed that such Fair would have an indispensible role for creating jobs for the youths aspiring to seek greener pasture for employment opportunities.     

He emphasized collaboration and coordination among three-tier governments to generate jobs in the country.     

Likewise, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City Gopal Hamal viewed that such fair should be organized annually, for, he added, that it would help unemployed youths with jobs.     

He argued that the State should consider increasing investment to eliminate poverty in Sudurpaschim Province.     

Pramod Pathak, Federation of Professional Training and Employment of Nepal's Sudurpaschim Province Chairperson, was confident that the fair would support to create favorable environment for job opportunities and to understand employment situation in the Province.     

The two-day fair has 37 consultation stalls where the aspiring employees will meet prospective employers. According to the organizers, there was demand for 2,664 jobs while around 5,000 candidates have applied so far.     

The fair is also expected to help promote skills development, encourage entrepreneurship, stimulate economic growth and enhance public-private partnership and empower youth.     

Various workshops will be held during the fair which will sensitize the aspiring job seekers about safe migration, rules and regulations about foreign employment, international and national law about labour and social security schemes among others.(RSS)
