PM Prachanda leaves for Modi’s swearing-in ceremony

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, June 9: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ left to attend the swearing-in ceremony of PM-designate of India, Narendra Modi.

PM Prachanda is officially visiting India in response to a cordial invitation from his counterpart Narendra Modi. 

As per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Prachanda will attend the swearing-in ceremony in New Delhi on Sunday at 7 pm. 

Accompanying him on this journey are his daughter, Ganga Dahal, along with the Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Padam Giri, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, and a delegation comprising high-ranking officials of the government of Nepal.

After the culmination of the swearing-in ceremony, PM Prachanda is slated to return to Kathmandu on June 10.

In 2014, the then-Prime Minister late Sushil Koirala had attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Modi. During that time, heads of state and government from various South Asian countries participated in the ceremony.

Following the results of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections in India, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 293 seats, while Prime Minister Modi's party, the Bharatiya Janata Party, clinched 240 seats.

PM Prachanda was bid farewell by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Chairperson, Narayan Dahal, Deputy Prime Ministers Raghubir Mahaseth and Narayankaji Shrestha, ministers, parliamentarians, high-ranking officials of the Government of Nepal and Chiefs of security agencies.
