By Jaya Man Buda Magar, Rukum (East), June 7: Even though the tenure to build two bridges at Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality, is coming to an end, construction work has not yet taken effect.
The contractor is not able to start building the bridge located in a section of Dang-Rolpa-Rkum (East)-Dolpa, along Shahid highway at Putha Uttarganga-10, 11 and other bridge over Pattekhola of Putha Uttarganga-13.
The Mrit Sanjivani Construction Service was awarded the contract to build both bridges.
Chief of the Shahid Highway project Office, Rolpa, Netra Prasad Devkota said that the contract was signed with Shahid Highway project Office, Rolpa to start the work on a project from February 23, 2022, and to complete it in three years. The term to complete the project is coming to an end, but the work is still unexecuted even after having completed two years of signing the contract.
He said that attempts have been made to call on the contractor but they have been delaying the construction work giving many excuses. The contract was to build 80 meters 80-meter-long bridge over the Uttar Ganga River and 25 meters 25-meter-long bridge over Ghattekhola.
Ward chair of the Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality, Puniraj Gharti Magar said that the problem in commuting and transportation of goods and materials has been observed during the rainy season because of the lack of bridges.
Ward chair Magar shared his unhappiness over unexecuted two projects even after having reached the stipulated time for their completion.
He said, “If the concerned regulatory bodies would have properly played their part then the contractor would have completed the project on time.”
