Green Poetry Reading held on World Environment Day

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 7: The tranquil Kirateshower Jungle in Gaurighat came alive with the harmonious blend of nature and poetry during the "Green Poetry Reading" event on Wednesday evening. 

Organised jointly by Sabdankur and Wartan Kabita Samuha, the event brought together an impressive lineup of poets to raise awareness about pressing environmental issues.

The event not only showcased the power of poetry in conveying important messages but also fostered a deeper connection between art and nature.

Poets Bhisma Upreti, Roshan Sherchan, Dhir Kumar Shrestha, Divya Giri, Radhika Kalpit, Ram Gopal Aashutosh, Rami Priya, Bishwa Sigdel, Sanjay Suman, Chandra Bahadur Lama, Shailendra Prasad Sigdel, Shree Ram Dahal, Purusottam Ghimire, Premila Rai, Manoj Neupane, and Binisha Sapkota recited their thought-provoking poems, accompanied by the melodious tunes of flute by artiste Bimal Karki.

Their poems delved deep into pressing environmental issues both in Nepal and globally, shedding light on human negligence and the urgent need for action. The poets emphasised the importance of preserving nature and the ecosystem, advocating for greater awareness and responsibility among individuals and authorities alike.

Poet Bishwa Sigdel, representing Wartan Kabita Samuha, highlighted the significance of poetry as a potent medium for generating awareness and inspiring change.

 "Wartan Kabita Samuha is planning to organise similar events in the future, focusing on various critical issues facing the nation and the world," he announced.

Poet Chandra Bahadur Lama commented that the inspiring event marked a step forward in the collective effort to address environmental challenges through creative expression and community engagement. 

The event also featured a symbolic tree-planting ceremony, reinforcing the commitment of the participants to environmental conservation.
