By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, jun,1: India’s Shat Mishra and Sri Lanka’s Kaya Daluwatte won the titles of the 10th Nepal Amateur Open at the par-72 Gokarna Golf Club on Friday.
Mishra played 3-over 75 in the third and final round for the 54-hole total of 8-under 208 and he recorded a four-stroke victory over Nepal No 1 amateur golfer Sadbhav Acharya in men’s individual event.
Sadbhav carded 3-under 69 and moved to second position with total score of 4-under 212. Defending champion Sumit Kotwal of India produced the best card of the day, scoring 5-under 67 and he finished third at 3-under 213.
Kaya won the women’s section trophy with the total score of 6-under 210. She carded 4-under 68 in the final round and registered 11-stroke victory over India’s Dia Cris Kumar. Dia played 1-over 73 in the final round for the total score of 5-over 221. Another Indian golfer Ananthi Vivek finished third at 12-over 228 after she played 5-over 77 in the final round. Defending champion Kashmira Shah of Nepal was fourth at 230.
On Thursday, India’s Shat and Kotwal won the team event title with 36-hole total score of 9-under 279. Nepal B team of Rahul and Wangchen Dhondup finished second at 2-over 290, while Nepal A team of Sadbhav and Tashi Tsering finished third at 291. Bangladesh and Bhutan were fourth and fifth respectively in the five-team event.
A total of 65 players from five countries -- Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan -- took part in the 54-hole event organised by Nepal Golf Association under the auspices of National Sports Council and Nepal Tourism Board. Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Hotel Royal Singi supported the event.
