By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 31: The National Fine Art Exhibition, which began on May 28 at the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), is currently underway.
This year, 522 artworks created by 482 artists from all seven provinces are put on display.
The exhibition featured 43 artworks by 42 artists from Koshi Province, 61 artworks by 57 artists from Madhes Province, 267 artworks by 233 artists from Bagmati Province, 46 artworks by 42 artists from Gandaki Province, 70 artworks by 70 artists from Lumbini Province, 28 artworks by 23 artists from Karnali Province and 43 artworks by 42 artists from Sudurpashchim Province.
The exhibition features a wide range of artworks, including traditional and contemporary, cartoons, installations, printmaking and more.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Hit Bahadur Tamang, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation on Tuesday.
Devendra Thumkeli, Member Secretary of the Academy, said that around 40,000 people visited the National Fine Art Exhibition last year. This year, they expect 50,000 visitors during the 15-day exhibition period.
For the first time, NAFA organised a Provincial Art Exhibition in all seven provinces from the last week of February to the last week of March this year, under the slogan Social Transformation: Campaign of Fine Arts.
Naradmani Hartamchhali, Chancellor of the Academy, said that the best artworks from these provincial exhibitions were selected for the National Fine Art Exhibition.
The logo for the National Fine Arts Exhibition 2081 was created by artist Pradeep Shakya, who is also the curator of the exhibition.
The exhibition will run until June 12. Nepal Tourism Board is the promoter of the event.
