Major parties seal 4-point pact on probing cooperatives scam

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 28: The major political parties have agreed to the term of reference (TOR) of the probe committee on misuse of cooperatives' fund

Coordinator of the task force, also the Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Padam Giri, said that the meeting held at the Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs at Singha Durbar, has made a four-point agreement.   

The meeting has given a conclusion to the four four-point agreement of the parliamentary committee. The ToR has been presented to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. 

There has been an agreement to study and submit the regulation, supervision, and transparency regarding the crisis, laws, organizational purpose related to cooperatives, and their financial process. 

There is an agreement to study coming up with ideas to ensure the deposited money of the depositors in the problematic cooperatives, return the  risked money or abused money swiftly and easily.  With this, the ongoing parliamentary impasse has ended. 

The opposition has been demanding to form a parliamentary committee to investigate the alleged involvement of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane in the misappropriation of cooperative funds.
