First President Dr Yadav underlines consolidation of rule of law

Kaski, May 25: First President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has underlined the need of establishing rule of law and constitutionalism.     

Inaugurating the 17th general assembly and 12th convention of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Kaski chapter here today, the former President said information and communications sector can only grow in a democratic system.     

He urged the government to adhere to the letters and spirit of the free press as per the Constitution. "The country should be governed as per the Constitution and law. The media sector should be a path shower in adhering to the Constitution largely as part of its duty".     

He also noted that the top leaders of the major political parties should sit together to seriously discuss the economic status of the country.     

Also speaking on the occasion, Gandaki Province Chief Minster Khagaraj Adhikari said the politics ad communications sector should be free from doubt. Politics and media are the two wheel of a chariot, he said, both the sectors should not be a subject of suspicion.     

Former Chairperson of FNJ Harihar Birahi was felicitated with 'Kriti Memorial Award, 2080'. The award carries a purse of Rs 111,111.     

The general assembly had endorsed several agendas.(RSS)
