Scorching heat in Tarai affects everyday life

blog

By Janarjan Khatri,Sarlahi, May 19: Extreme heat in Tarai districts for the past few days has affected the daily lives of people.

The intense heat has made people very uncomfortable, even at home. With no wind to provide relief, residents have become restless. Rajeev Timalsina of Lalbandi Municipality-17, Raniganj, complained that he had to rush around in search of shade.

“It has been extremely hot here for a few days now. At this time, the electricity is irregular in the southern part of Sarlahi which makes the situation worse” he said.

To replace the Nawalpur-Malangwa power line, the Malangwa Distribution Centre cuts the electricity supply all day long, exacerbating local people's suffering.

Binay Rai Yadav of Malangwa Municipality-12, Gamharia, complained about the day-long power outage. The heat affects not only humans but also birds and animals.

Dr. Abinash Singh of Provincial Hospital Malangwa advised people to drink water frequently and take other health precautions as the heat can weaken the body and cause various health issues.

As the temperature increases, the fear of mosquitoes, snakes, and insects has also escalated. Children are seeking respite in ponds, small rivers and wetlands to beat the heat.

Tam Bahadur Ghising, Ward President of Hariwan Municipality 1, noted that this year, the excessive heat has affected the slums of Churepakha.
