By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 11: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Hit Bahadur Tamang has said that political activities will not be allowed in the Pashupati Area Development Trust now onwards.
Speaking at the 38th anniversary of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) on Friday, Minister Tamang said the PADT should not be a place to serve political interests.
Pashupati Area Development Trust was a non-political spiritual place in the past, he said, adding, “Although the PADT has been used as a place for politics in the recent past, I am committed to stopping this in the coming days.”
Minister Tamang claimed that the nation could not make the desired development due to political activities in a spiritual place like Pashupatinath.
He said that Pashupati Area Development Trust is a spiritual holy place and he would work to achieve its religious objectives. According to him, the Pashupati area, listed in the World Heritage Site, has played an important role in making Nepal known in the world as an important centre of Orient philosophy and culture.
He said that the Pashupati area would become a centre of attraction for religious tourists if it was promoted systematically.
He further said, “If we attract millions of Indian devotees who believe in Hinduism and provide the religious tourists with a pleasant physical and spiritual environment, this Pashupatinath area can be turned into a centre for economic progress and progress for the development of the country.’’
