Science and technology meet kicks off

By Nisha Rai,Dharan, May 8: A two-day Regional Conference on Science and Tech organised by the Central Campus of Technology, Dharan, kicked off  here on Tuesday.

The conference is being organised in Gorkha Complex at Ward No. 8 of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City under the support of the University Grants Commission. Over 200 researchers from different parts of Eastern Nepal have gathered in the conference.

“It is a first-of-its-kind conference organised in Eastern Nepal. We are delighted to have started the conference in the presence of Professor Binil Aryal,” said Dr. Lalit Kumar Rai, coordinator of the conference organising committee. According to Dr. Rai, researchers are presenting 44 papers on different fields of science and technology at the conference. “Of them, 22 papers are related to physical science, 16 are related to biological science and four to computer, information and technology,” Dr. Rai added.

Moreover, the research topics include ‘research on cancer cells’, ‘dengue fever’s scenario in Sunsari’, ‘Ethno-botanical study on Santhal/Satar community’ and ‘use of traditional medicines by the Rai community’ among others.

“The conference is a move to provide a platform for researches to present their studies and reports,” said Dhiren Limbu, Assistant Professor and a member of the organising committee.
