By Our Correspondent,Gulmi, Apr. 25: Isma Rural Municipality in Gulmi is poised to provide Rs. 100,000 per family for the reconstruction of houses destroyed by a fire on Saturday.

A meeting of the executive committee of the rural municipality on Tuesday decided to allocate the amount to the families whose houses were destroyed by the fire.

The fire, fueled by strong winds, ravaged 26 houses and 49 sheds across different areas of the rural municipality, affecting around 200 citizens on Saturday.

With the onset of the rainy season imminent, the rural municipality plans to mobilise funds for housing construction from the Disaster Management Fund, Chairman of the rural municipality Bhagat Singh Khadka said.

Khadka also hinted at the possibility of additional support from other sources once the reconstruction works begin.

The meeting also decided to provide an extra Rs. 400,000 per family through collaboration between the Federal, Provincial, and Local governments to address monsoon-related disasters.

The meeting held on Sunday also decided to allocate one month's salary of the people's representatives and five per cent of the monthly salary of all government employees to the relief fund for the victims.

The District Disaster Management Committee has provided Rs. 20,000 per household as immediate relief to those who have suffered complete damage. Both government and non-government organisations are offering cash assistance.

Since the relief and rescue works have been accelerated, the rural municipality has requested to provide the cash amount to the Relief Fund along with support of all kinds.
