By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Mar 27: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that the government is trying to complete the remaining works of the peace process through national consensus.
At a meeting with the representatives of
various organizations of the families of the conflict victims at Singh Darbar,
the Prime Minister said that the government is committed to abiding by the court
order regarding the investigation of the disappeared persons and the issues of truth
and reconciliation commission.
"Despite the government's efforts,
the transitional justice issues have not been resolved because some elements are
active to disturb the issues of transitional justice for a long period,"
Prime Minister Prachanda said. He informed that the government has forwarded related bill to complete the remaining works of the peace process.
He shared that the government is trying to provide employment to the family members of the conflict victims, health care to the people injured in the conflict and housing for them.

organisations including National Network
of Victims of Serious Human Rights Violations Nepal, Maoist Victims National
Struggle Committee Nepal, National Organization of Women Victims of Conflict
Rape, National Network of Conflict
Victims Nepal, National Memory Network, Nepal, Conflict Victims Shajha Chautari
Nepal, Disappeared Family National Network, Nepal, National Network of Conflict
Victims, Nepal, Conflict Victims Committee (CVC) Nepal, Social Justice
Committee, Conflict Victim Concern Center, Nepal, Martyrs and Martyrs
Descendants Foundation submitted a memorandum as per the decision of their
national conference held on March 27 in Kathmandu.
According to the latest decision of the Supreme Court, the
current needs of the victims of the general conflict are urgent. In order to address,
the government should address the demand for truth, reparation and justice by
ordering the removal of obstacles within the time set by the court, we present
our views as follows.
The Supreme Court ordered on January 29, 2024 in the name of the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers for appointment of officials of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons and accomplish the remaining peace process as soon as possible through national consensus.
The victims organisations have
demanded with Prime Minister to address compensatory rights raised by conflict
victims, victim-centered units to uncover the truth in the commission structure,
re-registration of rape victims and missing incidents, transfer of missing
property, provisions related to appeals and extension of time to complete the
work should be included in the executive order.
