Nepal promoted as country of Buddha, Mt. Everest in Pako Festa, Australia

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Feb 28: Nepal was promoted as the country of the birthplace of Lord Buddha and Mt. Everest in Pako Festa, one of the biggest multicultural festivals of Australia, held in the city of Geelong, the second biggest city after Melbourne in Victoria state of Australia.

Approximately more than 100 countries participated in the festival, according to Lumbini-Kapilvastu Global Campaign Global Coordinator Ram Kumar Shrestha.

Pako Festa that was held on February 24 this year started since 1983.


Despite having a small Nepalese community in Geelong, because of Lumbini-Kapilvastu Global Campaign Global Coordinator Ram Kumar Shrestha’s tireless initiation Nepalese community started to participate in the Festa from 2013.

From the beginning Nepal is being continuously promoted as Buddha’s birth country and the country of the Mt. Everest and very rich country from cultural diversity viewpoint through various activities such as parades, flag displays, and stalls.

Mehek Adhikari performed Nepali cultural dance in Nepali song Din Dinai Bhetna Aaudinna.

Greater Geelong Nepalese Community President Dr. Santosh Pandey thanked everyone for their direct and indirect support to recognize Nepal through the event. In the event representatives from different organizations participated.
