Peacekeeping soldiers faced danger due to ethnic tensions: PM

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Feb 20: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said that peacekeeping soldiers have to face danger because of the complex conflict caused by various factors of ethnic tension and terrorism in the world.  

Inaugurating the EX - "SHANTI PRAYAS IV"  today, PM Prachanda said that "we need to be aware of the conflict of a multilevel nature." 

Mentioning that the peacekeeping operations have been developed as a complex military humanitarian effort, he said that peacemaking soldiers need to understand and prepare more. 

The PM said, “We must reassess how to maintain peace in the world amid the new complex challenges to keep intact the credibility and legitimacy of the United Nations Peace Operations.”


Saying that the importance of peacekeeping should not be exaggerated, he said that it requires deep human emotions, commitment and readiness to intervene to protect the weak.

Mentioning that the peacekeepers are embodying deep human emotions and commitment to humanity by going through danger, PM Prachanda said such efforts have a deep impact. 

The PM said, “I would like to pay respect and tributes to the brave peacekeeping soldiers who sacrificed for the sake of world peace. Their selflessness and dedication are a source of inspiration for us all.”

PM praised peacekeeping soldiers for their persistence in giving service with bravery and in the face of difficult challenges. 

Making it clear Nepal has been continuously advocating for peace and equality in international forums and will continue to do so in the future, PM Prachanda, said, “Nepal’s commitment lies in the desire for peace and harmony in the world.”
