Seven new missing border pillars found while repairing pillars in Jhapa

By Bishnu Prasad Pokharel, Damak, Feb. 20:Armed Police Force Nepal No. 2 Battalion Headquarte rs Jhapa has found seven pillars that were missing on the Nepal-India border. 

Superintendent of the Armed Police Force Nepal (SP) Devraj Aryal said that the joint team of Nepal and the Indian security officials have found the missing pillars while repairing and colouring the other pillars. 

SP Aryal said that for the first time, border repair, maintenance and painting work has been done on the Nepal-India border and seven border pillars have been found during this process. Nepal's side has got responsibility to repair, maintain and colour the pillars having odd digits. 

According to him, 317 odd-numbered border pillars have been repaired, maintained and painted so far.

On behalf of India, SSB has carried out maintenance and painting of 148 border pillars. Aryal said that seven additional pillars were found while repairing border pillars. 

Jhapa shares 144.02 km of international border with India. According to SP Aryal, during the last one-year, illegal farming done in 37 places in the Dasgaja area has been cleared. Similarly, 12 out of 17 houses have been removed. The remaining five are in the process of being demolished. 

Although it is not allowed to build houses in the Dasgaja area of the international border, in some places, citizens of both countries construct houses. 

After the transfer of Aryal, Kavindra Rai has been sent there as a new commandant at the Battalion Headquarters and has expressed his commitment to fulfill the assigned responsibilities and illegal activities in the border area.
