By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Feb 16: Many public toilets built in the Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City are either unable to be used or are in the verse of not coming to use because of filthy and dilapidated state owing to lack of proper management.
Owing to the same reason discussion was held between public representatives and employees to pave the way for operating toilets orderly.
Pramod Rizal, Spokesperson of the Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, said that a discussion was held between people’s representatives and employees of the sub-metropolitan city in the project of SNV Nepal regarding the operation of public toilets.
He said that cleanliness and maintenance need to be heeded special attention by the systematic use of the public toilets.
Spokesperson Rijal said that all the participants in the discussion were serious about the solution to the problem that many public toilets are built but get dilapidated due to lack of necessary management and supervision. It was concluded in the discussion that an action plan should be made for the proper management of public toilets.
The Nepalgunj Sub-metropolis has reconstructed two dilapidated public toilets in coordination with SNV Nepal. The reconstruction of two accessible public toilets near Bheri Hospital and the abattoir was done by SNV Nepal.
According to SNC Nepal, toilets were rebuilt for Rs 1.8 million. A bathroom has been managed in the toilet near Bheri Hospital and toilets have been made disabled friendly as well.
