By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Feb 15: The collection of suggestions from
group discussion in the ongoing first statute convention of the CPN (Maoist
Center) has completed today.
Prime Minister and Chairperson of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal
'Prachanda' had presented a draft of the party statute in the meeting on
February 13.
Seven groups submitted their views on the document today while 20 did
so yesterday, on Wednesday.
There were 20 groups to discuss and present suggestions on the draft of
the statute.
Central committee members Kamala Naharki, Prem Bayak, Yuvaraj Dulal,
Rajkaji Gurung, Ramdip Acharya, Krishna Dhwaj Khadka and Suman Devkota
presented suggestions today representing their groups, according to the party's secretariat.
Presenting suggestions Kamala Naharki said the party should be involved
in labour and production and a new campaign for transformation was needed.
Prem Bayal suggested that the preamble of the statute should be short
and that the organizational theory should also be short while number of
honourary members should be increased.
Yuvaraj Dulal suggested that the election symbol
of the party should be changed and that only democratic central should be
mentioned while ensuring freedom of thought but unity in action. He said his
group was for ensuring a member can continue in any post only for two tenures.
Rajkaji
Gurung pointed at the need of being elected by the party committee first before
determining any member to contest for people's representatives. He also
demanded a collective commitment for abiding by the statute.
Ramdip
Acharya said that clarity was needed on whether the party needed retrofitting
or reconstruction. He suggested removal of big layers for election.
Krishna
Dhwaj Khadka suggested for making provision in the statute that the any meeting
of the central committee and the alternative central committee cannot change
the statute. He said that party's departments should be made effective and the
experts should also be included in them.
Suman
Devkota said, referring to his group suggestions, that property of the party
activist should be made public and that there should be a system to keep
records of the members. He said the party statute should be made in line with
federalism and that departments should also be mentioned in the charter.
