By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Feb 13: Vice Chairperson
of the CPN (Maoist Center) and Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has
said that the revolutionary people across the country have been commemorating historic
People's War day today although the government had to rescind the public
holiday owing to the court verdict.
The DPM viewed so while addressing the Maoist
Center's statute convention that began today here.
"Today is the historic People's War Day. Revolutionary Nepali people celebrate it, they are commemorating it today. We are also marking it. A situation may arise in the future to mark the People's War Day officially once we conclude the remaining tasks of the peace process as per the indication of the court. The government could make another decision in the coming days in this regard," he said.
He shared that the government withdrew the public holiday decision to mark the People's War Day because of the verdict of the court.
"Whether
that falls under the jurisdiction of the court or not, there is a debate. But
we abide by the court's ruling as it is the government's duty," said DPM
Shrestha.
