By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan 14: The Election Commission has determined the expenditure ceiling on Sunday for the National Assembly election that is being held on January 25. According to EC, each candidate can spend up to Rs 350,000 for the poll expenditure.
Joint Secretary Shaligram Sharma Paudel and the Spokesperson of the EC said that the expenses can be done on the purchase of the voter list, procurement of vehicle, fuels, publicity material, commute, conferences, interaction programme, operation of the office, mobilization of the representatives and on other various topics.
To facilitate the monitoring of election expenditures, the EC has directed each candidate to open a separate bank account exclusively for election expenditures. The account number of this bank shall be communicated by the candidate in writing and inform the designated person, the responsible official who will spend on his or her behalf, to the Office of the Returning Officer or the Election office.
Similarly, the EC has also instructed candidates of the National Assembly election to submit the details of election expenditures to the EC or the Election Office within 30 days after the election results are out.
