By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan 9: The
opening ceremony to mark the selling of first batch of freshly harvested
vegetable supported by China foundation for rural development in Tarkeshwor Municipality
took place today.
The freshly
harvested vegetables are the fruit of 40 students of off–seasonal vegetable
training provided by the Enlai Foundation, and the Chinese people, guided by
the Chongqing experts.
More
than 300 kg of cauliflower, 500 kg of saag, 140 kg of tomatoes, 100 kg of
potatoes, and 100 kg of other vegetables were sold in the first batch of
Tarkeshwor municipality.
The
Opening ceremony was attended by the local ward leader of ward 2 and 3,
Agricultural department head of Tarkeshwor Municipality, President of
Agricultural Federation Bagmati province, Chairperson of Local Agriculture
Sales Company and other Local leaders, according to a press note issued by the
China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD).
In a
step towards fostering rural sustainable development, the China Foundation for
Rural Development (CFRD) launched "The First Sustainable Development
Experimental Village in Nepal" at Tarakeshwor Municipality of Kathmandu
District on May 29, 2023.
Under
the program, CFRD had successively launched the off-seasonal vocational skills
training in agriculture, whole village water system project, Panda pack Project
and Smiling Children Project.
This
initiative, supported by the China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD) and
New Light Foundation (NLF), focuses on skill development training in Nepal,
specifically in cultivating and selling of Off-Seasonal Vegetable Production.
The project, bolstered by the expertise of Chongqing Experts, aims to
contribute to sustainable agricultural practices in the region, read the press

The
event brought together key figures and influencers in the agricultural sector,
including local authorities and notable personalities. Chief Guest Ghanashyam
Shrestha, Chairperson of Ward No. 6, chaired the ceremony, underscoring the
local community's commitment to sustainable agricultural practices.
Special
Guest Radha Krishna Khadgi, Chairperson of Ward No. 2, graced the occasion,
symbolizing the broader support for initiatives fostering agricultural
development. Mina Kumari Thapa, Head of the Municipality’s Agricultural
Department, shared valuable insights, reflecting the collaborative efforts
between governmental bodies and non-governmental organizations.
The
presence of distinguished guests, Bhakta Narayan Maharjan, President of the
Bagmati Province Agricultural Federation, further underscored the significance
of this collaborative venture in the broader agricultural landscape.
This
open ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter in sustainable agricultural
development, with the sale of freshly harvested vegetables serving as a
tangible outcome of the training and support provided by CFRD, NLF, Chongqing
Experts, and the Enlai Foundation. The event not only celebrated the
achievements of trained farmers but also highlighted the collective commitment
to building a resilient and prosperous agricultural community in Nepal, read
