Tension runs high in hospital after patient dies

By Bishnu Prasad Pokharel, Damak, Dec 26: Tension has arisen in the Manmohan Community Hospital as the family and relatives have circled the hospital saying that their patient died because of the negligence of the hospital. 

A 35-year-old Narvada Baskota of Birtamod Municipality-9 was taken to the hospital on Monday morning as her parts below the knee went swollen.  The relatives have started demonstrations demanding compensation and action against the involved health workers saying that the patient died because of carelessness on the part of the hospital. 

The management of the hospital said that Baskota who was brought to the hospital in the morning died in the evening of the same day.  

Brother of the deceased Dinesh Baskota, said that they have demanded aid for children's education and action against those health workers involved in the treatment and upbringing of the children. 

The relatives have blamed that the report of the patient was not given and treatment was not delivered to Baskota, who was admitted in an emergency. 

Brother Dinesh said, "It is sheer negligence not to give reports and treatment to the patient admitted in an emergency."

The hospital administration said that an investigation into the incident is underway. 

It is said that the body of the deceased is kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.  The entrance to the hospital is prohibited. 

The police have tightened the security on the hospital premises since Monday evening.
