By Chandani Acharya, Ghodaghodi (Kailali), Dec 12: The Bulbule Lake Ghodaghodi Municipality-10 has become the centre of attraction lately. Although the natural lake located in the Bulbule community forest area is small, its unique feature captivates the visitors.

Bubbles form in the Bulbule Lake. It can be observed that whenever people utter the word  ‘Bulbul’ near the lake more bubble begins to form from underground on the lake.

The Community Forest User group has protected the lake by forming a barrier around it. Locals said that Bulbule Lake, located at the lap of the Chure Mountains and the Kandra river bank, has become the attraction for the picnic as it has broad grounds and bright sunlight around it.  A crowd of people visit the lake for a holiday picnic.

Khadak Buda, Chairperson of the Bulbule Community Forest Users Group said that the bubbles formed in the lake after the explosion of the source in the community forest, and the systematic conservation work towards the lake is underway. It was registered in 2000.

There is a membership of 500 people in the lake which is stretched in the area of 174 hectares. The consumer forest is named Bulbule as the bubbles form in the sound of ‘Bulbul’ in a natural way in a secluded area away from the settlement with a mesmerizing view. Bulbule Campus is named after it as well.

According to Buda, the community forest has built the temple, encircled the lake and constructed water taps for its preservation and protection as well as to develop it as a tourist destination.

He said, “It has been seven to eight years since people have started coming from different areas for the picnic. Lake is far from human settlement so it is difficult to manage waste products. There is no source for defecation.  We have requested the municipality for the proper management of structures.  we will take an entrance fee following the proper management of infrastructures."

Puskal Bam, a local conservationist said that even though there are many community forests and natural lakes in the Kailali district the Bulbule Lake is known for its characteristics. The more the noise is around the lake, the more bubbles form.

Bom said, “Presently, the community forest committee has built the temple, encircled the lake and managed the water tap, which has uplifted its scenic beauty. This attracts a large number of people for a picnic.”
