Judoka Shrestha returns home

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 9: Judoka Devkimaya Shrestha returned to Nepal on Wednesday after attending an International Judo Coaching Seminar in Japan organized by NPO JUDOs. The seminar lasted for a month and was held at Tokai University in Hiratsuka, Kanagawa. Shrestha had the opportunity to train in various schools and universities, including the Kodokan Judo Institute, and was trained by Mitsumoto, the chief coach of NPO JUDOs. 

According to Suryanarayan Shrestha, the chief judo coach of Prisoners Assistance Mission (PAM) and a member of the Nepal Judo Association, Shrestha was the first athlete from Nepal to participate in the seminar. 

Shrestha started playing judo in 2009 and grew up in PAM since the age of seven. She also serves as an assistant coach at PAM. 

In addition, Shrestha participated in the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China. Her siblings Indra Shrestha and Nisha Shrestha are also national champions in their respective weight groups. 

Shrestha expressed her gratitude to the Nepal Judo Association for providing the opportunity to participate in the seminar and praised the NPO Judos. She also said that she gained valuable knowledge from the seminar.
