blog

By Kedar Timalsina,Banepa, Nov. 2: Tippers have resumed operation after a restriction of nine days from October 22 to 30 by the Kavrepalanchowk District Administration Office. The restriction was to make roads free for other vehicles during the festival of Dashain.

However, the tippers have resumed operation by overloading goods. The district’s Traffic Police Office informed that several tippers were fined for overloading as soon as the restriction was lifted on the night of October 30.

DSP Shrestha, who is also the spokesperson for the Kavrepalanchowk District Police Office, added, ‘Overloaded goods are removed from around 70-80 tippers on a daily basis.’

“The tippers plying along the Araniko Highway and BP Highway in the district have been fined for overloading. The tippers are allowed to leave only after removing the extra load,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raj Kumar Shrestha.

DSP Shrestha, who is also the spokesperson for the Kavrepalanchowk District Police Office, added, “Overloaded goods are removed from around 70-80 tippers on a daily basis.”

“We fined 12 tippers on Wednesday for not listening to our regular requests,” said DSP Shrestha.

The authorities had also started weighing tippers on a weighbridge following the directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs. However, it has not been implemented effectively following protests from tipper operators.
