By Hari Prasad Koirala, Urlabari, Oct. 5: The first Automatic Electrical substation in Nepal is going to be built at Paitishbighe of Letang Municipality-2, Morang.
The foundation of the sub-station was laid by Bhupendra Kumar Lawati, Mayor of the Letang Municipality and Umesh Kumar Jha, Chief at the Nepal Electricity Authority Koshi Provincial Office, Biratnagar.
According to Chief Jha, the sub-station which is being built at 1 bigha of land is going to be the first automatic sub-station of Nepal.
Sohan Construction and Jaya Durge Engineering & Construction Pvt. Ltd. have undertaken the sub-station project which is of 6-8 Mega Volt Amp (MVA) capacity.
Chief Jha said,” The project is worth around Rs 170 million, of which, Sohan Construction is making transmission lines, and Jaya Durge Engineering & Construction Pvt. Ltd is making sub-station.”
The agreement of the project was signed with both companies with the target of completing it by December 2024. There has been 10 per cent work on the transmission lines.
The work of erecting 6-8 MVA electricity transmission poles in the 18-kilometre (km) area from Keroun Chowk to the place where the Letang substation will be constructed has been completed.
Erecting poles from Keroun Chowk to Kanepokhari and Kanepokhari to Kamalpur Letang is finished. Now, the wire fixing will start.
The NEA has already constructed a station with 137-111 MVA at Kanepokhari-2, Keroun, and Morang. From the stations, electricity will be distributed to Birat Chowk, Letang, and Rangeli.
Mayor Lawati said, “This is an ambitious plan so the locals must lend their support to it.”
If any suffer during the construction, then will be solved through the discussion of political parties.
The mayor claimed that the issue of low voltage would be solved permanently after the construction of the substation.
