BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Sindhupalchowk, Sept. 3: The work has begun to blacktop Melamchi-Nawalpur-Chautara road, in Sindhupalchowk district. The road upgradation project has been funded with a budget of Rs. 176 million provided by the Bagmati Province government.
Melamchi Municipality Mayor Aitman Tamang laid the foundation stone for the blacktopping on Saturday. In addition to the blacktopping, the construction of gabion walls, machine walls, plumb walls and excavation has also begun simultaneously.
The blacktopping work has been entrusted to the Om Buddha Naya Yug JV company. According to the agreement, the company needs to complete the blacktopping of five-kilometre road section from Melamchi to Baguwa by June 10, 2025.
Mayor Tamang has instructed the construction company to make sure that the road paving is completed within the stipulated time and meets the required quality standards.
The residents of Melamchi, Helambu and Panchpokhari Thangpal have been using the road to reach the district headquarters from Chautara and vice-versa.
