By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 2: Nepal crushed Bahrain by 10 wickets to make it two wins out of two in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2023.
Nepal had defeated Malaysia by five runs in their first match on Thursday.
Indu Barma shone with her ball as Nepal bowled Bahrain out for 31 after the latter chose to bat first
in Kuala Lumpur.
Nepal eased to the 32-run victory target in 2.5 overs without losing any wickets. Kabita Kunwar remained unbeaten on 17 off 14 balls with three boundaries. Similarly, Sita Ranamagar was not out on two. Nepal also benefitted from 13 extras from their adversary bowlers.
Earlier, Barma’s figures of three for five did the major damage in the dismantling of Bahrain, who were restricted to 31/10 in 15.4 overs.
Captain Deepika Rasangika was the only Bahrain batter to cross double figures, scoring 11 off 20 balls. The rest of the batter returned to the dugout for the cheap score.
Puja Mahto trapped Rasika Rodrigo (0) lbw as the first wicket Kabita Kunwar picked Tharanga Gajanayake (4) as second and Apsari Begam ran out Abeera Waris Alil to claim a third wicket.
Barma bowled out Rasangika to end her resistance Bahrain tottered to 23/4 in the third ball of the ninth over. Bahrain lost two wickets of Ishara Madhuwanthi (5) and Prajna Jagdeesha (0) in the 10th over with 24/6 on board. Barma picked Pavithra Nishant (1) as her third wicket while
Khushi Dangol dismissed the last two of Bahrain’s batters for a duck. Rubina Chhetri also took one wicket.
