CPN (MC) launching grassroots campaign today

blog

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 2: The ruling CPN (Maoist Centre) is launching a three-month grassroots campaign called ‘Janata Sanga Maobadi Bisesh Rupantaran Abhiyan’ (Maoists with people, a special transformation campaign) from Saturday to reach out to the people.

The party aims to reach out to at least 2.5 million voters during the period.

Party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota informed that party chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is slated to launch the nationwide campaign from Chandragiri Municipality-2 at 1pm on Saturday. The campaign will be simultaneously launched in 6,743 wards across the country.

Organising a press meet on Friday, Sapkota said chairman Prachanda himself would engage directly with the public through a campaign to inform people about the government’s accomplishments in the realms of good governance, empowerment, and social justice.

He mentioned that by renewing and expanding its membership, the party aims to reach a new milestone of 800,000 members. For this, an automatic committee will be prepared.

For the campaign, all the leaders and cadres of the party would be deployed in the field to strengthen the party organisation and interact with the people.

They would visit every household to listen to the concerns and opinions of the people, he added.

“As a part of the campaign, the party intends to interact with at least 2.5 million voters to convey information about the government's efforts and achievements in the domains of good governance, economic prosperity, and social justice,” said Sapkota.

“The primary objective of the campaign is not to teach but to learn. The real heroes are the people themselves. We will learn people’s enthusiasm and vision,” he added.

According to him, the campaign will unfold in three phases.  The initial phase will involve internal training, followed by interactions in the second phase, and finally, public meetings will be conducted in the third phase.

“This is a special transformation initiative,” he added.

The party has divided the areas of responsibility for the party leaders and cadres. The central office bearers are assigned to inter-province, standing committee members and central members are responsible for inter-district activities, and provincial members are assigned to inter-municipalities, he explained. Senior vice chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Narayankaji Shrestha will participate in a programme in Harisiddhi, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-28, Harsiddhi.

The CPN (MC) has claimed that the government's actions have garnered significant public support. The central committee meeting held last month had decided to conduct a three-month campaign to strengthen the party organisation. The campaign is expected to revive the party in the upcoming periodic election of 2027, as the campaign is expected to understand the concerns of the people and act accordingly to convince them to vote for the party.
