By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 28: To create the awareness on conservation of the Yak and Snow Leopard, a Friendship Football match will be held in Manang from September 11.
Biodiversity Conservation Society Nepal and Ant Foundation are organising a three-day long tournament titled -Friendship Football Match for Conservation-Together for Yak and Snow Leopard.
In a press conference held on Sunday, organisers informed that they are organising a friendly football match to convey a message for the protection of snow leopards and yaks found in the Himalayan region.
Three friendly matches will be played at Timang situated above 2,600 meters, Pisang located 3,100 meters above sea level, and Mungji which is 3,200 meters above sea level.
Former captain and goalkeeper of the Nepali national football team Upendraman Singh, Hari Khadka and Anil Gurung are also involved in the campaign. According to the organizer, they will also play friendly football.
Along with celebrity-studded Tmea Himalayan Snow Leopard, three local teams-Manang Yak, Pisang Yak and Kanjisar Yak- will compete in friendly football.
Along with football stars, 18 celebrities from different fields and locals will also participate in the competition.
